The stage is set for Rio as they prepare to host the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the 2016 Summer Olympic Games. The 2008 Beijing Games provided a platform for China to show to the world that they were modern, powerful and ready to take on global challenges. China roared and loudly indeed for the world to hear in glorious high definition and surround sound. As a nation, Brazil will have the same opportunity in both 2014 and 2016 to showcase to the world that they are the most powerful country in South America capable of crafting a great future for its people and for the entire region. The global sporting events will bring Rio into the spotlight and offer a unique place in history for Brazil and Latin America.

The backdrop for these events has been hanging for centuries as Rio boasts one of the most spectacular and beautiful settings in the world with its surrounding verdant mountain peaks on one side and gorgeous blue ocean waters on the other. Local residents have been surrounded with this sensual and intoxicating environment for generations and with the seductive sounds of samba as their rallying cry, Rio’s residents, known as cariocas, have perfected the art of living well. Just watch the YouTube video below to feel the spirit that the cariocas have as they prepare for Rio 2016.
